We wish to be transparent as a Board about where we’re at and what we’re doing in relation to addressing racism and inequity in education and the outdoors. We’ll update this space ongoing.

OSEE stands in solidarity with Black and Indigenous communities across Turtle Island and beyond. The field of environmental education and conservation has a rooted legacy of upholding colonial values, and access to the outdoors and outdoor education remain largely inequitable for communities of colour. We strongly believe that active change must be implemented in order to create and maintain safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for all Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour, and all other equity-seeking groups and individuals.

Please reach out if you have questions, concerns, ideas, or comments about our processes, actions and intentions.

Warmly,

The OSEE Board
